Be Still and Rest in His Presence

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:10)

As the Lord prepares you for this day ahead, take time to be still and rest in His presence.

The more you persistently practice this at the beginning of each day, the more the Lord is able to gradually build trust bonds between you and Him within your soul.

Much of our anxiety comes from excessive planning and obsessing over the future.

This tendency is so common in the ‘hustle and bustle’ culture of our world today.

Sadly, this habit only hinders our sensitivity to the Lord.

Whenever we feel the urge to anxiously jump into the future, we must resist it immediately and return to the present where His presence is waiting for us.

The more you become accustomed to resisting anxious planning, the more you will be able to receive from the Lord in the present.

He designed us to cooperate and partner with Him in the now.

It is His job to be the one who orchestrates our future path, not ours.

As you take time to be still before Him today, surrender your anxiety to Him.

Know that He longs to take away all your anxiety, as it has no place in His Kingdom.

Jesus already paid the price for your freedom, so that anxiety and stress is His to deal with, not you. When you place it in His hands, He will then cast it off into the sea of forgetfulness, never to be seen again!

Hold Your Peace

The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. (Exodus 14:14)

What are the things that are competing for your attention today? What is weighing heavily on your heart? Is it a person? Or maybe, it’s your job or lack thereof. Perhaps you have a child who isn’t following the Lord. Each day has struggles of its own. Trials and difficulties vie for our time. But the Lord wants us to trust Him and give Him our cares and concerns. He desires that we come to Him, trusting Him to work on our behalf.

Exodus tells us to be silent and trust the Lord to fight for us. Isn’t that difficult, though? It is not natural to be quiet and trust God. Our flesh wants to complain or fret about our struggles. But, God wants us to rest in Him. He can make a way when we see no way out of our situation. Just think about how many times God has rescued His people from trouble. He parted the Red Sea when there was no escape for the Israelites. He delivered Daniel out of the lion’s den. Over and over again, we see Him work miracles on behalf of those who love Him.

Help me to focus on your incredible faithfulness Jesus. Give me the peace I need to wait on you in quietness and trust. Amen.

When I read this devotion it blessed me. The Lord will fight for you, you just need to hold your peace. That’s not an easy ask but I assure you, you will find rest in God’s goodness and presence. He neither slumbers nor sleeps. Leave whatever “it” is to God. Do your best and God will do the rest.

Have a beautiful and uplifting day in The Lord!

Finding Rest Amidst the Stress

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (Matthew 11:29)

How do you find the possibility of freedom and peace in a world where there seems to be no rest? The idea that the pace of life seems to continually increase stress and worry is a universal concept. There seems to be no end to the demands on our time and energy. Are you tired of the constant busyness that seems to consume our lives? I know I am!

There is a solution: It isn’t one that offers escape from the demands of life, but one that guarantees rest in the midst of the rat race and the fast pace of life. Jesus says, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

Jesus offers us rest amidst the stress.

Christ doesn’t always take us out of life’s demanding situations. Instead, He asks us to let HIM show us how to handle life’s demands. Jesus wants us to face each day and each challenge with HIM. Walk with Jesus Christ daily and trust Him for guidance and wisdom to handle whatever comes next.  In this way, you’ll finally experience true rest amidst the stress of life.

When I read this devotion it blessed me and I pray it encourages you to find rest in the midst of life’s demands. I would hope to encourage you to let go today and let God, He is bigger than anything you are facing and He desires to face life’s demands with you.

Have a beautiful and uplifting day in The Lord!

Trust Him

Be still, and know that I am God . . . (Psalm 46:10)

When Jesus was denouncing the unrepentant towns where He had done most of His miracles (Matt. 11:20–24), He still had words of comfort for those who would come to Him. He said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls” (vv. 28–29).

This statement is striking! Immediately following His strong words for those who were rejecting Him, Jesus extended an invitation to all to draw near to Him to find the peace we all yearn for. Jesus is the only one who can calm our restless, weary souls.

No matter what you go through, no matter what your currently dealing with always remember, the Lord is faithful. He will provide, even in the darkest moments, He is there. I once heard a saying, When God leads you to the edge of the cliff, trust Him fully and let go. Only one of two things will happen: either He’ll catch you when you fall, or He’ll teach you how to fly! God closes doors no man can open and God opens doors no man can close. Trust Him to be the door keeper of your life. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path (Psalm 119:105).

I come to You now, Lord, in need of rest for my heart. Help me to trust You and be confident in Your love and in Your direction. Guide my every footstep. Amen.

Have a wonderful day in The Lord!
