His Peace

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

Imagine God hands you a gift: His peace. In return, He asks you to give Him your worries and concerns. That may seem crazy, but that’s exactly what God wants from you.

Think about that as you talk to Him about what’s on your mind today.

When I read this very short devotion I was moved by it. So much truth and power behind such a short devotion but little is much when God is in it. 1 Peter 5:7, Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Real Peace

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

What if someone told you that you never had to be anxious again? Would you laugh or roll your eyes? How can we not be anxious?

Each of us has stressors, worries, and difficulties. But God wants us to turn our worries into prayers. As we give Him our burdens to carry, it lightens the heaviness in our hearts and minds.

Some might mistake peace for lack of conflict, positive thinking, or even control. But that isn’t peace. Peace is not dependent on our circumstances.

Of course, when things are going well, we feel excited and happy. But, true peace is found in trusting the Lord, even when things are not going the way we hope or want.

Real peace has faith that God is in control whatever the obstacle, situation, diagnosis, or loss.

Lord, will you help me to trust you with my pain today? I need your strength. Amen

God is the reason why even in pain, I smile; in confusion, I understand; in betrayal, I trust; and in fear, I continue to fight. James 1:12, Blessed is the man that endures trials: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. God loves you and is far more powerful than the thing you fear most. He sees, He hears and He will deliver.

The Promise of God

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

Today, everyone is looking for peace. We want our desires fulfilled and we think that will bring us happiness.  We hear promises of fulfillment on radios, see promises on billboards, become a part of them through television and after hearing these promises enough times, we sing about them and make daily choices because of them. What is the primary message that these slogans promote? The answer, “We’ve got what you need.”  Promises, promises!  Promises of a fulfilled life, an improved life, a happier life and a more peaceful life suggest that this life is attainable through the things of this world. Commercials promise that you can “have it your way,” “we do it all for you,” “you asked for it, you got it,” and “you deserve it.” But can these promises really be true? And will these products bring us the peace we are all seeking?

Because of the inability to have these promises truly fulfilled from the world, it then seems hard to believe that all the promises from the Lord will come true. Unlike the promises of the world that are conditioned upon our spending money and time to benefit from their product, Jesus has given us the promises of God, which are free. The Lord does require something from us: our trust, belief and obedience. And in return He promises peace to His people. Our attitudes, goals and desires should not depend on the promises of the world, but on the promises of the Word.  It’s that peace that makes us different and gives us something that others want. That peace will affect the way we live in our actions, behaviors and attitudes. Acts 10:36 says, “The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all).”  Jesus promises us peace, not from this world, but from Him. His promises are not empty slogans but a way of life: for He is the way, the truth and the life.

Do you need to experience His peace today? If so, begin by asking Jesus to fill you with His loving peace. His promises will never fail you.

I recently read this devotion and it blessed me so much. So many times we feel peace is hard to attain but as today’s devotion says, our attitudes, goals and desires should not depend on the promises of the world, but on the promises of the Word. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27). He is faithful.

Have a beautiful day in The Lord!

Peace and Trust

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

When I was six years old I rode a roller coaster for the first time with my older brothers. As soon as we hit a turn at a high speed I started to yell: “Stop this thing right now! I want to get off!” Of course the roller coaster didn’t stop, and I had to “white knuckle” it, hanging on tight for the rest of the ride.

Sometimes life can feel like an unwanted roller coaster ride, with “downhill” drops and hairpin curves we never see coming. When unexpected difficulties occur, the Bible reminds us that our best recourse is to place our trust in God. It was in a tumultuous time when invasion threatened his country that the prophet Isaiah, inspired by the Spirit, discerned this powerful promise from the Lord: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee” (Isa. 26:3).

The peace our Savior gives us as we turn to Him “passeth all understanding” (Phil. 4:7). I will never forget the words of a woman who was struggling with breast cancer. After a group from our church prayed for her one evening, she said, “I don’t know what will happen, but I know that I’ll be okay, because the Lord was here with us tonight.”

Life will have its difficulties, but our Savior, who loves us more than life, is greater than them all.

Lord, help me to trust in You so that I may live in peace.

When I read this it blessed me. We can either allow situations in life to make us bitter or better, we choose. Allow Jesus to be your peace.

Have a wonderful day in The Lord!

The Promise of God

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)

When I read this the key part that stood out to me was, Our attitudes, goals and desires should not depend on the promises of the world, but on the promises of the Word. What truth!! May we live our lives each and every day by the promises of the word and not the world.

Have a wonderful day in The Lord!
